In a significant operation, officers from the Nasarawa State Police Command, attached to the Keffi Division, apprehended a woman identified as Hauwa Sani, along with a two-year-old child, for attempting to smuggle dangerous weapons.

Keffi, located just 33 kilometers and about a 40-minute drive from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), served as the backdrop for this arrest.

Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer for Nasarawa State, disclosed in a statement on Saturday that the officers recovered 124 rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition cleverly concealed inside a gallon of palm oil.

According to Nansel, the operation took place on Friday when the suspect, a resident of Doro village in Katsina State, was intercepted by the diligent officers.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had received the ammunition at Rafin Sanyi village in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. She then attempted to transport the lethal cargo, hidden in palm oil, to Katsina State before the law caught up with her.

Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu Nadada, has since ordered that both the suspect and the recovered ammunition be transferred to the Force Intelligence Department at the Force Headquarters in Abuja for further investigation.
